Pax Prentiss suffered for a whole lot of 10 years due to his addiction to heroin, cocaine, and alcohol alone while keeping it hidden from his family and friends. His addiction led him to such as the extent to cheat, steal and lie to others, which not only destroyed him from inside but also deteriorated his relationships and friendships. By the time Pax confessed to his father Chris that he was in desperate need of help, Pax had lost all of his friends and was hanging on through the last straw and could not support himself anymore.
Reaching such a point of his life, Pax had realized that his life had gotten way out of his control and the drugs had become a necessity for his body, which he could not stop even if he wanted to, rather than an enjoyment. However, Pax had realized that he needed to get his life back on track and the first step to confide in someone and get help. Confessing to his father Chris helped, but as determined as they were to get rid of Pax’s addiction, they still had a long way to go.
In his journey for recovery, Pax went through a lot of embarrassing AA meetings and harsh 12-step programs which only resulted him making him feel insulted and helpless. They labeled Pax as an “addict” with a “disease”, which only spread more negativity in Pax. Though Pax was able to achieve sobriety for a while through these programs, the phases were very short-lived, and the guilt and shame of suffering through such programs would kick him back into relapse.
It helped Pax a lot that he had his father to listen to him and understand him well. Soon they realized that the conventional rehab centers were of no benefit for Pax and he needed something different. The only to get rid of his addiction was through positivity, respect, and strength. Hence, they started to look for an alternative treatment with this in mind.
Pax and Chris researched about addiction and developed a better understanding of it and what it means in today’s world. Combining the various elements of Eastern and Western philosophies, Chris and Pax developed a new type of holistic treatment which not only addressed the physical addiction but also treated the mental aspects of it. Once Pax understood the underlying factors of his addiction, he was able to resolve them become sober using nothing other than natural medicines and positive thinking. He realized that the solution to the problem also existed within himself.
After Pax overcame his addictions and became sober, he and his father decided to establish Passages Malibu with the goal of spreading their newly discovered holistic vision and hence the rehab center was built in 2001. What’s special about Passages Malibu is that it does not treat any two different addictions as similar, and designs customized treatment programs according to the needs of individuals and what they are going through.
Passages Malibu was the first ever rehab center of its kind in California, and their unique vision and approach soon hit off. Every passing year, Passages Malibu caters to more and more individuals with addictions and has until now successfully healed thousands of them.
Passages Malibu helped Pax, and it can help you to get rid of your addiction too. All you need to do is give us a call, and we will guide you through our process and healing model.
